The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and KDS, a European leader in online business Travel & Expense management solutions, will present the results of their 6th annual global business travel survey at the ACTE Global Education Conference in Paris, 2nd-4th October 2011.
The annual survey aims to analyse current trends in business travel, this year focusing in particular on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT) and the impact which global events have on business travel. Questions also centred around how organisations are utilising mobile technology in their business travel management, and the methods they are choosing to cut costs.
The analysis of the survey results provides a fascinating snapshot of the modern business travel experience. Findings include:
- Three years on, the impact of the financial crisis is still a key driver for travel reduction as a means of controlling costs.
- Awareness and adoption of Corporate Social Responsibility is increasing, but there are still significant improvements to be made in terms of implementation and involvement. 44.5% of survey respondents feel their companies could be more active in this area.
- Global current events such as natural disasters or conflicts are becoming a bigger preoccupation: 45% of the respondents had to cancel or reschedule a trip because of the earthquake in Japan.
- The use of social media travel related applications is having an increasing impact on the industry: 78% of respondents declared that they believe these new tools will have significant consequences on travel policies.
- There is a cultural gap between France and the USA when it comes to CSR: 43.6% of French survey respondents believe that monitoring carbon emissions and choosing the socially responsible option is the personal responsibility of the traveller, compared to only 23.1% of respondents from the USA.
The full results of the survey will be revealed in depth at the ACTE Global Education Conference in Paris on the 2nd - 4th of October, and will later be available on KDS’ website.
