Biography

I’m Yves Weisselberger, I have a wife named Laurence (in fact my partner, we are not technically married) and 3 kids including 2 from a former marriage and one from her. My wife had 2 also which makes me consider I have 5 kids as I love all of them. Before being one of the founders of KDS, I was also involved in another company named Klee, a 300 people system integrator I’m still a shareholder and Board member of.

I was an engineer before anything else hence my passion around products. Despite the fact I’ve become technically incompetent over years, I still daily bother our teams with what our product should do. Of course, my main focus is business and I’ve 20 years ago discovered how driving a business work or selling are very clever activities.

I was enlightened in 1990 (long ago) when we started Klee after having been 5 years in charge of Virtual Memory for one of Bull’s Operating System. I started to sell as all entrepreneurs do; you are generally the first salesman of your company. We would initially sometimes lose deals in competitive situations when it looked obvious that our offer was by far technically superior. And I quickly discovered incredible things about selling I will probably talk about in future posts. That said, even today, nothing makes me more excited than to see one of our Product Managers or engineer show me some new cool tech we will put on the market.

In my younger years, I loved mathematics and I occasionally still have fun in resolving some mathematical puzzles or answering one of the tricky Google hiring questions I was an average chess player and a better competition bridge player. When programming, I could not stand my code not having an elegant architecture (orthogonal as we said at the time for computer instruction sets) and I was always looking for the best algorithms. I also love everything related to culture: movies, theatre, literature, music. And we try with my family to reserve some time for those. The things I hate: gardening and repair things in my house; Laurence is almost the man regarding these matters.
